Giving energy for an organism to function, carbohydrates from plants origin gives more energy and in animal origin from proteins and fats.
Giving nutrients that the body needs. It should be noted that one has to consume varieties of foods to make sure they have all the required nutrients. It is possible for a particular food to have more than one nutrients but not all.
They can prevent or cure disorders and diseases, mostly foods from plants origin has this power than from animal origin which might posses this ability in specific cases.
